A Edward Major, Principal

Mr. Major joined the firm in 1987 and assumed leadership upon his father's demise. He began his legal career with Cahill Gordon & Reindel, focusing on public finance, mortgages, and litigation.

Although a native New Yorker, Mr. Major became a solicitor in England and Wales through the request of British clients whom he represented in various real estate transactions in New York City.

He is registered to practice before the bars of New York, New Jersey, and Florida, The Law Society of England and Wales, and the American Bar Association (both the International Law Section and the Committee on Law and National Security).

Mr. Major has a strong commitment to community service. Since 1991, he has coached an inner-city baseball team in Brooklyn for players who wish to become professionals or attend college on a baseball scholarship. He was the Co-President of the Parents' Association of The Bronx High School of Science, one of the finest high schools in America. In addition, he is active with West Point, US Army War College, The Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, The Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, The Association of Defense Communities, The Strategic Studies Institute, where he performs work on leadership, issues of National Security, and the legal issues that encompass them. He also performs pro bono work for several churches, synagogues, and non-profit organizations.

Mr. Major is a HUD Foreclosure Commissioner, a NYS Certified Court Evaluator, and a certified Six Sigma Green Belt.

Beverley Lewis, Bank Practice/Office Administrator

A pleasant but thorough task master, Ms. Lewis is responsible for keeping the staff on schedule and updated with the proper work materials. Ms. Lewis has received advanced training in management, client counseling, and HUD, HPD, and SONYMA mortgage requirements and, together with her family, performs voluntary work for Habitat for Humanity. She was previously employed by American Express. Born and raised in England, Ms. Lewis has worked for the firm since 1994.

Amanda Bernard, Legal Assistant

A Brooklyn native, Ms. Bernard attended John Jay College and is a proficient and willing worker who assists with much of our bank work. She is a longtime volunteer at her church.
